History: The Moora Race Club was established in 1907 – this is the first written history of the club.

The Bystino Grandstand, which is still in use today, was built in 1925 for 840 pounds, with seating for approximately 200 race goers. In the early years, the club had two meetings on a long weekend. Up to 60 horses would travel by rail from Midland and Perth. Many improvements have been made over the last few years to it’s running rail, mounting yard and grassed areas. In early 2009 a new jockey’s facility was built.-

The club used to hold long weekend race meets with racing on Saturdays and Monday’s. Up to 60 horses would come up to the club by train from Midland. On the Saturday night the race club would put on a glamorous ball and dance and was the hight of the social calendar.

In the 30′s they introduced trotting races, although the kind they rode not drove in buggies. This didn’t however last long. For many years they had 2 meetings a year, one in Autumn and one in Spring. The Spring time meet has always been the main event holding the Moora Cup. During these early years other towns near Moora also have race courses – Dandaragan, Waddington, Three Springs – none of these race courses exist today except for Moora.-
